Why Duty, Honor, and Country are Still Important to Me

Why Duty, Honor, and Country are Still Important to Me

I recently was a guest on a radio show, and I was questioned about my opinion of the US Military Academy at West Point's deletion of the words, "Duty, Honor, and Country" from its mission statement. I used to work for Lt. Col. Dave Grossman and he, too has been...

Do Guardian Angels Exist?

Do Guardian Angels Exist?

I grew up hearing about Guardian Angels in church, and I believed they existed and protected me and my family (Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways). However, after a career in law enforcement, I can assuredly state...

A Lesson from a Pile of Rocks

A Lesson from a Pile of Rocks

I used to love a good object lesson, and (I suppose I still do) as a physical object can often reveal, show, or teach a greater truth that is memorable. Recently we purchased a new home, and I have been doing "hard things" to tailor the property to our liking. I've...

Trusted by Those Who Know the Cost of Service

{

I describe Mike Baldwin as grounded, centered,  and laser focused. His faith and family have always kept him fighting for the truth and what is right. Mike never gave up despite being knocked down again and again. He just got back up.

Mike seemed to always be in the right spot where he was needed. I firmly believe God put Mike in places because he was the right man for the situation at hand.  For example…

  • Helping me and my family meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • Providing justice for victims /victim families time and time again while battling the politics of our agency; however, the supervisors always knew to call upon you to investigate a serious crime.
  • Once, my best friend was in need of emergency backup when we were attempting to apprehend multiple armed felons. One suspect fled on foot and I could not respond because I was dealing with multiple suspects. I could not help him, and I was so upset hearing my partner call for help. Moments later I was able to respond, and all of my anxiety disappeared as soon as I saw Detective Mike Baldwin already on scene and helping him.
